Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy
Listening with Attention
If you’re looking for quality Individual Therapy sessions with a certified Psychotherapist who cares, then you’ve come to the right place. We work together, setting achievable goals.
This may be a solution-focused Counselling intervention. I am also a trained EMDR Therapist, an evidence-based approach which can be helpful to overcome trauma. I use MBCT (mindfulness-based cognitive therapy) to affect change in experiences of depression and anxiety.
Some people do not have words or prefer not to use words to communicate. I am a state registered Music Therapist and we can use this powerful non-verbal means of communication to achieve your aims. I have beautiful, accessible instruments to hand and songwriting is another expressive medium we can explore.
Book an appointment today, we can discuss your needs and see what I can do for you.
Mindfulness, Relaxation and Stress-relief
Moving with Compassion
In your therapy sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems through mindfulness-based practices. This may take place sitting comfortably indoors, or outdoors in the tranquillity of the garden. We may talk together as we walk around nearby.
We may also move into yoga-based interventions for a holistic approach that includes body therapy.
We know that we are made up of 'body, mind and spirit' and we can incorporate all of these aspects to develop your sense of recovery to wellbeing and wholeness.
Learning to feel grounded in our bodies helps us to feel more resilient and relaxed. This will allow you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s stresses.
People find this approach beneficial and inspirational and this is certainly my experience.
I teach regular yoga classes, both online and in person.
I run Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma Recovery as a 6-week course.
This course has been open to all women; trans women, genderqueer women and female-identified non-binary people. It will be run for different groups over time.
The course is designed to allow us to feel at ease and gently nourished by soothing yoga practices. Alongside my personal yoga practice, I have been working as a therapist for over 20 years, providing trauma therapy for people of all ages and abilities in the NHS and in the private sector.
The themes explore choice & freedom, awakening the witness, cultivating equanimity, embodiment as empowerment, brain & body integration and opening to love.
Participants receive an email each week with information (both psycho education about trauma and supporting yoga philosophy) and tips of how to integrate these healing practices into everyday life.
The weekly sessions begin with a practice to help us feel grounded and continue with conscious breathing, vagus nerve stimulation (to nourish our nervous systems), warming up the body, mindfulness in movement and end with integrative rest.
For more information about the next course dates, and to book, please email heathermurray125@gmail.com or call/text 07811 628247
